Moving Your Mountain by

by David Wikerson

I am sending a part of this message by David Wilkerson because it exposes the false teaching of a very subtle and yet dangerous movement of idolatry that has been sweeping America for the last number of years - where God's born again people are taking a giant step backwards and placing themselves under Old Testament Law - which Jesus Himself declared that He had come to fulfill (and we know He did ). And yet well-intentioned and yet ignorant Christians more and more are returning to Jewish traditions, which we know were types and shadows of the coming Messiah. This movement actually denys who Jesus Christ is - they confess Him with their lips - but their hearts are far from Him, when they place themselves under the Law, rather than salvation by grace. Remember - everything changed when Jesus came on the scene and declared that the Kingdom of God was at hand, and then the blood atonement fulfilled the Law. This is like our Father telling us He sent someone to pay our debt, and yet because of our unbelief, we return to the bank to make payments, when the blood of Jesus marked that debt PAID IN FULL. We are without a doubt in the end times and America especially is spiraling downward and headed towards judgement, while this sector of Christians are acting out the Mosaic Law and not moving forward in the Kingdom of God. The enemy has subtly wooed these people to sleep with a religious spirit, and how the heart of God must grieve, when if these people would read the New Testament - especially the book of Hebrews; from the beginning Paul was admonishing the new church to 'let go'... 'let go'... of old ways. And now in 2008, a fresh wave of holding fast to Old Testament ways has reared it's ugly head to deceive and mislead and in effect nullify many within the church of God on the earth. It's idolatry plain and simple, when we return to Jewish ways. The greatest example I have is of some personal friends of mine - now born-again Jews from LA - who once they were saved - have forsaken all the Jewish Old Testament ways, once they acknowledged Jesus Christ as the Messiah.... Please read on, and I trust you will allow the Holy Spirit to annoint your heart and mind with the true understanding of this passage of Scripture.... Jesus Christ chose the Jewish race to be born through - fulfilling prophecy, but now born again Christians are the New Jerusalem - a spiritual building and dwelling place of God; His people. God never intended for His people to place special significance on the Jewish race... The things of God are foolishness to the natural man - for they are spiritually discerned.... This is no different than if Jesus had chosen to be born in Trondheim Norway and today we in America choose to dress, eat, and behave like unbelieving Norwegians. This is not the heart nor will of God for us. In Him we live and move and have our being.... and once we are born again - we either start moving forward, or we start sliding backwards; there is no standing still.... It's time to get on board the boat with the Lord and leave the old behind.... for the Saints and for the Lamb, Lindie Gibson

Moving Your Mountain
by David Wikerson July 14, 2008

“As they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto (Jesus), Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith…. What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” (Mark 11:20–24, my italics). This well known passage is beloved in the church of Jesus Christ. As I read it recently, God would not let me pass over it without examining it further. Now I have found within it powerful spiritual truth I hadn’t seen before. Jesus was in his last days of ministry. He had just cleansed the temple, driving out the money-changers. Now he was spending time with his disciples, to prepare them as the pillars of his future church. Yet at this point they were still faithless, “slow to believe,” men of little faith. Jesus had chided them for their unbelief at various times, saying, “Can you not see?” He saw in their hearts a hindrance that had to be removed, or they would never come into the revelation necessary to lead the church. As they passed by a barren fig tree, Jesus cursed it: “(He) said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it” (Mark 11:14). Later, as the group came by the fig tree again, Peter pointed out, “Lord, the fig tree you cursed has dried up.” Jesus gave Peter an amazing response. Without offering an answer, he said simply, “Have faith in God.” We know from Jesus’ response that the message to follow was all about faith. The withered fig tree was another of Christ’s illustrated sermons. What did this dried-up plant represent? It signified God’s rejection of the old religious system of works in Israel. That system was all about trying to earn salvation and God’s favor by human effort and self-will. Something new was about to be birthed in Israel: a church in which God’s people would live totally by faith. Salvation and eternal life would come by faith alone. Indeed, walking daily with the Lord would be a matter of faith. Yet, to this point, God’s people knew nothing of living by faith. Their religion had been all about performance: appearing for worship services, reading the Torah, keeping extensive sets of rules. Now Jesus was saying, “That old system is over, headed for judgment.” A new day was dawning: the church of faith was being birthed. The truth is, from the very beginning God had sought a people who would live before him without fear. He wanted his children to be at rest in body, soul and spirit by fully trusting in his promises. God called this “entering my rest.”
