Tamale Bake Off

We watched movies and made the tamales...ate Rachel's Bean dip, had Turtle cookies, ate tamales, chips and nobody argued and had to fight it out in the Jell-O Pool.

OH...Rachel is making the frosting for the Turtle Cookies. Kimberly is getting the tamale meat out of the pan.

That is Kimberly's tamale meat and she is adding Kate's tamale meat to the bowl.


The masa in a container and the chilies being blended up into sauce.

The beginning of making the tamales. Spread the masa from about 2/3rds down on the smooth side of the husk. Make it as smooth and level as possible.

Spread about a tablespoon or so of the mead up the husk on the masa.

Folding the top end in. Don't forget the olives in the next pic.

Put a couple olives in and fold the top end over the meat.

Fold the right side over...or the left.

Then fold the left...or the right.

That is the final product. Place the tamale in a container open side up, folded side down so you can get lots of dozens in that container. See picture below. :)

Rachel....no, she isn't drunk...she only had one bloody mary....LOL
